Goodbye Neocities?
I actually love Neocities. I love the concept. I love the old web vibe of most of the websites hosted here, how active they are, how creative. With all that said, I don't think Neocities is the right place for this blog. Hear me out.
It's the lack of FTP (which is needed for Publii to actually automatically upload my blog) and my constantly broken directories. BeautifulSin might have started in the 90s but it started on actual, non-Geoshitties paid hosting with a domain and the ability to use FTP and run code. I feel like if I want BeautifulSin to not only work but be nostalgic for me (which is the whole point of the blog, my own silly nostalgia), it has to be on a platform that resembles the one it started on.
I hate to say it, but Neocities just isn't that platform.
Now, this doesn't mean abandoning Neocities altogether. I actually have been thinking about making an old-fashioned Buffy the Vampire Slayer shrine for yonks, and I think Neocities would give me the old Geocities feel as much as possible without a page builder, so if BeautifulSin suddenly transfers elsewhere you might see this space space morph into something new but I'm not 100% on that, yet.
Until I decide, I'm still going to blog here when I can and say 'hi' from time to time. I'm not disappearing, just reworking my experience to better suit my needs. <3
